My body of work is increasingly centered around a personal cosmology of ‘demon’ figures that act as a type of alter-ego to project my own issues, obsessions, and vices onto.

This piece is a vessel to store my ‘sins’: compulsions and thoughts which I know have the potential to hurt me or those around me. And yet I can’t or won’t convince myself to stop. Each side of the box represents one of the seven deadly sins as they apply to the modern world and my experiences as a bipolar queer man. Pride displays an unrestrained manic ego. Sloth lies in bed, depressed and doom-scrolling. Greed is a kleptomaniac, shoplifting almost compulsively. Gluttony is bulimic, eating just to purge. Envy watches as his friends exclude him, a growing resentment building. Lust is desperate for physical touch, for pleasure; he will let anyone do anything to him just to feel good. And when all that emotion finally bubbles over, Wrath shatters his knuckles against the wall of the shower, lashing out at anything close.
